Welcome to the Conservation/Preservation Showcase
The Collections Council is pleased to launch this Conservation / Preservation Showcase in response to recommendations made in the Conservation Survey 2006 Report. You can read about the background to the Showcase and the Survey by clicking here.
The purpose of the Showcase is to raise awareness about the field of conservation and preservation in Australia, both within the collections sector and in the broader community. As with all Collections Council projects, we aim for representation across the four major collecting domains - archives, galleries, libraries and museums - and also historical societies, indigenous keeping places and interpretation centres. Conservation and preservation are indispensable to proper collections care, regardless of the collecting domain in which the collections are located.
The Showcase is envisaged as an evolving resource that will, over coming months, more fully represent the many facets of work in the field of Australian conservation and preservation.
The Conservation / Preservation Showcase has three strands:
Career case studies supplied by individuals currently working in the field. more...
Project case studies supplied by organisations working in conservation / preservation. more...
Education, training and employment references. more...
The Collections Council has checked the currency of the links and other information at the time of publication and will continue to monitor this. However, if you notice any errors (including broken links), or can offer new information (including suggestions of comprehensive and attractive Australian conservation projects on websites), please contact the Collections Council at email: info@collectionscouncil.com.au
Education and career focused organisations are encouraged to link their sites to this Conservation / Preservation Showcase.
