Following a decision by the Cultural Ministers Council on 9 October 2009 to cease funding the Collections Council, the Board decided to wind up the company.

The company received funding from the Cultural Ministers Council to enable the completion of several projects during the first months of 2010, and the transfer of some activities to other organisations. The Secretariat closed on 30 April 2010.

This website is being archived by the National Library of Australia, and will therefore be available as a permanent resource through PANDORA.

The Collections Council of Australia has also arranged to preserve the website through to 30 April 2012. Users may download and republish resources from this website, with acknowledgement to the Collections Council of Australia Ltd. Please note that  the website will not be maintained after 30 April 2010, and links to external sites may become inactive.

The Collections Council helped to inaugurate Blue Shield Australia and has transferred the Blue Shield secretariat to the Australian Library and Information Association. The Council congratulates Blue Shield Australia on its new website, launched on 23 March 2010. (To visit the older web pages developed for Blue Shield Australia by the Collections Council, please click HERE.)

The Collections Council of Australia Ltd was initiated and supported by the Cultural Ministers Council, an intergovernmental forum for ministers responsible for culture and the arts in Australia and New Zealand.
