The Collections Council of Australia was incorporated as a limited liability company on 27 September 2004. The CCA secretariat operated from 21 February 2005 to 30 April 2010, and the process for deregistering the company is expected to conclude by October 2010.
The Council's Board of Directors was appointed to reflect the full range of collecting organisations and the contexts in which they operate. Archives, galleries, libraries and museums of all sizes routinely deal with tourism, arts, education, media, government, infrastructure and service providers to achieve their community outreach goals and standards. Directors with collections expertise worked with those from allied areas to develop sustainable solutions to the real problems facing collecting organisations at policy and community levels.
