Guide to Collections Mapping
In 2008 the Collections Council published Jenna Randall’s collections mapping discussion paper, as available at the bottom of this page, which established a framework for a proposed collections mapping guide.
During 2010 the Collections Council advanced that framework and has published Guide to Collections Mapping by Jenna Randall and Alexis Tindall on 30 April 2010. It is anticipated that this guide will prove a valuable resource for the CollectionsCare Demonstration Project and in other regional communities.

Collections Mapping - a student project
An important component of the Collections Council’s CollectionsCare proposal is collections mapping.
In 2008, Flinders University graduate student Jenna Randall undertook a study of cultural mapping and adapted it specifically to the mapping of collections in communities, wherever they occur in Australia.
Ms Randall’s report includes a critique of cultural mapping information resources and a guide to aid CollectionsCare Coordinators in developing collections maps with communities.
The Collections Council gratefully acknowledges the work undertaken by Ms Randall on behalf of collections in Australia, and congratulates her on an excellent academic result.

The Collections Council encourages you to forward these links to colleagues to promote discussion of the mapping technique. Communities are welcome to adapt the templates in the Report to begin the mapping process in their communities.
