As a Conservation Officer at the State Library of South Australia Amalia enjoys the opportunity to work with a wide range of historical artefacts; treating individual items to remove dust, dirt and other destructive elements (most frequently sticky tape), and fabricating individualised covers and boxes to protect them from further harm.
She also appreciates opportunities to see the specialist Conservators at work at Artlab Australia who perform the more complex treatments required for some Library items.
As an exhibiting artist herself, Amalia brings a highly-developed aesthetic judgement to her work, and particularly savours the experience of helping to install Library exhibitions.
