Update on 19 February 2010
This call for images has now closed. The Collections Council of Australia will be winding up in late April 2010, and is not able to accept further offers of images. Our thanks are extended to those who did contribute images for our inclusion in our earlier publications.
Collections Council - Image Bank
The Collections Council announces a call for images to promote the Australian collections sector in the Council’s presentations and publications. This is an opportunity for collecting organisations and individuals to raise awareness of their collections through reaching a broad and diverse audience.
There is no fee charged for submitting images, nor is a fee received if the images are used by the Collections Council.
Images should be submitted in the accepted formats outlined below.
Permission and Copyright Release form
All images must be submitted with the accompanying Permission and Copyright Release form. This form may be completed electonically and returned by email to the Collections Council, or printed and returned by fax or post.
Guidelines for contribution of images
General principle
For effective reproduction, an image should be clear, and should display good contrasts. Too much white or too much black may make it unusable.
Integrity of images
The Collections Council reserves the right to crop and resize images according to design requirements. Please do not supply images that cannot be manipulated for design and layout purposes.
Electronic images
-
High resolution digital files can be accepted and should be 300dpi or higher at intended final output size.
-
Preferred file format is TIFF or JPEG, supplied by email or on CD-ROM or DVD suitable for PC and/or Macintosh computers.
Reflective images
-
Print photographs can be accepted and will be scanned to suit the publication’s requirements.
-
Photos, where possible, should be glossy (not matt) in finish.
Image Content
-
Please supply Australian rather than international images.
-
Collections Council publications and presentations incorporate visual representations which reflect the diversity of the Australian collections sector, including single items, multiples, installation/exhibition views, building and facilities (such as storage areas and conservation laboratories), and people engaging with collections.
Acknowledgements
-
The Collections Council will acknowledge the photographer and/or copyright holder for the images. In some cases acknowledgements may appear at the end of the presentation.
-
The Collections Council prefers not to pay royalty, copyright or Viscopy fees, and therefore requests that images be provided complete with copyright clearance.
Captioning
At the Collections Council’s discretion, images may be captioned to suit the purpose of the publication. The captioning text will be derived from information supplied on the Permission and Copyright Release form.
