Together with the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT), the Collections Council will create an e-learning module based on Significance after receiving funding from the national training system’s e-learning strategy, the Australian Flexible Learning Framework (Framework).
The Collections Council has partnered with CIT under the Framework’s ACT E-learning Innovations business activity to create an e-learning module based on Significance. The project will develop an assessment tool for writing a ‘statement of significance’.
The e-learning module being developed by CIT, through Ms Deb Bowman’s leadership, is based on Significance (2001), in awareness of this year’s work towards its revision into Significance 2.0. Ms Bowman is experienced in teaching within a vocational education and training (VET) context and is up to speed with e-learning pedagogy.
Collections Council and CIT have undertaken a thorough review process for the Significance e-learning module prototype and the project will include current students of the CIT Museum Practice Certificate IV. The project’s aim is to make the Significance e-learning module accessible long-term on a number of collections sector and VET websites, where it can complement other Collections Council work based on significance. It is due for release in December 2008.
The Australian Flexible Learning Framework provides the VET system with the essential e-learning infrastructure and expertise needed to respond to the challenges of a modern economy and the training needs of Australian businesses and workers.
